The tourism sector is experiencing a dynamic transformation, striving to adapt to the green and digital macro-trends. However, to become more environmentally and socially responsible and to respond more flexibly to new consumer demands, tourism sector needs skillful workforce, equipped with the so-called ‘green’ transversal skills related to sustainable thinking and action, which are necessary for the adaptation and implementation of standards, processes and services for the protection of ecosystems, biodiversity, etc.
And the education system, especially vocational education and training, needs to respond to such a call-for-action promptly and efficiently.
The workshop “Green Transformation Skills in Tourism” draws attention to the importance of green transversal skills to ensure the success and sustainability of the tourism sector. By bringing together VET professionals and tourism business representatives, the event aims to discuss the need for and impact of these skills in tourism and identify ways to integrate them into VET programmes. The event will also discuss the possible recognition/validation of green skills acquired in informal settings, provide for the exchange of best practices between Bulgarian, Lithuanian and Turkish VET practice and assess the training needs of disadvantaged learners.
The event will take place on June, 12th at IMI’s headquarter in Varna, Bulgaria (13A, Oborishte str.) and will be live streamed on IMI’s Facebook page.
