The first workshop in the series was hosted by Şaban Temuge Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi and took place in Yalova on 26 June 2024. It brought together 26 participants, including representatives from training and educational institutions, the tourism industry, and trainees.

The event opened with an introduction to the EU’s aspirations for a digital and green transition, emphasizing the pivotal role of the tourism sector in achieving these goals. Participants were introduced to the importance of building green skills to foster sustainability in business practices and the opportunities offered by the TRANS4GREEN project.

Following the presentation, attendees engaged in a dynamic discussion, guided by a pre-designed questionnaire. Key topics of discussion included:

  • Current business needs related to sustainability.
  • Opportunities for collaboration between the education sector and businesses to prepare the workforce.
  • The integration of green skills training into educational curricula.
  • The most effective active learning methods for teaching these skills.

This fruitful exchange of ideas shed light on critical issues that will inform the development of the TRANS4GREEN methodology and toolkit. The insights gathered during this workshop will guide the partner consortium in shaping innovative and impactful solutions for building green skills in the tourism sector.
