Developing Green Skills for Sustainable and Inclusive Future in Tourism

On 24th and 25th of September, the pilot testing of the TRANS4GREEN ToolBox took place in Varna.

The ToolBox is a set of scenario-based learning resources designed to support the development of green skills relevant to the tourism sector.

The pilot sessions involved 15 young people with disabilities from Bistro Academica – a Shelttered Employment Center, who participated in interactive activities including knowledge-building exercises, games, group discussions, and decision-making scenarios.

The learning content focused on two key green skills identified in the ESCO framework:

  • Assessing the impact of one’s own behavior on the environment

  • Engaging others in environmentally responsible actions

Through these activities, participants from the sheltered employment center were able to develop and strengthen essential green skills, supporting more sustainable decision-making in both their personal and professional lives.

Beyond the direct benefits for the learners, the pilot testing also confirmed the effectiveness and accessibility of the TRANS4GREEN materials for disadvantaged groups. This marks an important step in ensuring inclusive and impactful green skills education.
